Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in strength within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of heroes who will separate from the main group to embark on their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might appear mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death started the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his own means, breaking into the secret base, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, wants revenge.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could help the group access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This means them little choice but to head to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Explorers and Planners groups.
